Biography

The Groove Band and Show is more than just your typical live band! The collaboration of its members showcases the talent of the hottest musicians around. From Smooth Jazz, to Old School R&B, Southern Soul to Down Home Blues, The Groove Band's variety of music definitely knows how to keep you on your feet and have a good time.
The original members Simeon Weatherby (saxophonist/vocals), Ashanti Cullen (keyboardist), Brandon White (bass guitarist), Freddie Edwards (drummer), and Ramirez Ivy (lead/rhythm guitarist) had been playing for different bands individually for years when they realized h ... ow unique their sound was collectively. With the addition of one (1) keyboardist (Lloyd Rogers), one (1) lead/rhythm guitarist (Jerry Carnathan), two (2) lead vocalists (Marcus Selvie, Lakevis Chandler) and three (3) background vocalists (Tiquanna Phillips, Jakala Brown, Wilani Turner) The Groove Band was born.
Originating from Columbus, MS, The Groove Band has traveled all over the country providing premiere entertainment, headlining for a number of festivals, wineries, corporate events, military events, weddings, receptions, banquets, family reunions, collegiate homecomings and even night clubs. The Groove Band has even opened for Grammy award winners such as Fantasia, Ben Tankard, Calvin Richardson, and Confunkshun just to name a few.
The Groove Band strives to not only maintain a great sound, but to continue to keep live music alive and well. The band has one mission however; to explore their own talents and continue to make good music!!!!
