Since 1996, Salvatore Spano has worked professionally as a freelance musician, performing as pianist, organist, arranger, and musical director in theatres, jazz clubs, concert halls, luxury hotels, resorts, and international entertainment venues across Italy, Switzerland, and abroad.
From 1996 to 2000, he collaborated with the theatre company Il Crogiuolo of Cagliari as pianist and musical director for musical theatre productions dedicated to the history of Italian popular song, performing extensively throughout Sardinia.
Between 2000 and 2020, he collaborated with the Orchestra and Choir of Teatro Lirico di Cagliari as pianist, organist, and keyboard player in several productions dedicated to twentieth-century repertoire, including works by Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, and Cole Porter, participating in live performances and recordings.
From 2018 to 2022, he performed with the Orchestra Jazz della Sardegna in live concerts and studio recording projects.
As a recording artist, Salvatore Spano has released five albums as leader in Italy, the United States, and Japan, in addition to participating as sideman on more than a dozen recordings.
