Sing a Song: A Tribute to The Carpenters - Karen Carpenter Tribute Act - Glasgow, Scotland Event Location: Lanternhouse Theatre Event Type: Theatre Shows / Clubd
(Six-piece band) This is not just a tribute or a singer doing a ‘party trick.’ Kerry’s voice stopped me in my tracks. Yes, she sounds like Karen, but it’s her own stunning voice that does justice to the songs. We go to all the touring Carpenters Tributes but these guys knock every one of them into a cocked hat. It’s not only the talent of the band, but the interaction that sets them apart. They should be playing the biggest venues in the UK and abroad and we hear they are going to China. Very well deserved. They’re new, but they’re not going anywhere - please go and see them when you can.

It's hard to believe that this tribute band (seems an undersell to say that) have only been together since last year. This is a polished, well constructed and delivered performance and package. The beautiful Oran Mor was a perfect setting for this classy evening. Kerry Burley and Rob Gallagher quite clearly have a great passion for the material they are performing and Rob's inside knowledge and love for the music pours into the auditorium with interesting and funny anecdotes about the world famous American duo throughout the evening. We are straight into the hits from the word go with the audience eating up "We've Only Just Begun". Kerry's vocals are spot on - she hits the timbre and beauty of Karen Carpenter's voice straight away. This isn't an impersonation - this is a bizarre likeness to that instantly recognisable tone. Those low, rich "money notes" are all there. This duo works as it's quite clear know each other well. They draw you in to the evening with their easy chat and l ...
