Biography

Singer/songwriter, and performer Skyelar began paving her way in the entertainment industry at the early age of seven where she starred as a child actor in the forty two part series Getbushwise. At age 14 she began performing and working alongside the CMDA (caster bridge music academy) founded by American recording artist and songwriter Dave Matthews. Here she trained under Agi di Aguar (former member of Evoid) and gained the opportunity to perform alongside well known South African artists such as Vusi mahlasela, Prime Circle and opened for artists such as The Parlotones. Following the releas ... e of her single "ghosts" she was accepted to train vocally under Jan Erik Swart two time award winner of the children's choir world championships. At nineteen Skyelar decided to pursue her music career further by studying songwriting overseas in London this opportunity allowed her to train under and collaborate with many internationally recognised artists such as Tim Hawes (Ivor novella award winner, worked with Spice girls, Sugababes, Aaron Carter), Leddra Chapman (Ed Sheeran), Luke Concanoon (Daniel Day Lewis, Jamie Cullum, Ed Sheeran). She also worked alongside Skunk Anansies lead guitarist Ace and Jennie Surmeli in a project called Tuning Inn encouraging youth to get involved in music from a young age. At the age of 21 Skyelar returned home to get back to her roots and began to work alongside industry renowned producer DJ Cosher on two singles "Carry me home" and "Flatlined" .
