If you're wondering what the world of acoustic sounds like, why not take a look at your local small venues, and see what's on the music schedule. London has some of the best small and medium sized music venues and lots of them are brimming with history and atmosphere. The Half Moon Pub in Putney, South West London has a reputation for top quality music gigs and it's near to the Thames if you fancy a riverside stroll afterwards. If you find yourself in hip Hoxton, take a trip to Zigfrid Von Underbelly - pub, eatery and arts centre upstairs, performing arts downstairs...loads of bands for the price of a pint! And right in the middle of Camden is The Dublin Castle, now with over a hundred years of action under its belt, and new bands are regularly featured. Fun fact: Madness, the Ska Band of the 80's begged to get a booking here...the reception they received was massive and they hit the big time with a record deal.

If you want something a little less demanding, why not check out the annual Acoustic Festival where a multitude of bands perform. You'll get the chance to be on the receiving end of some vocal coaching, or try out an instrument of your choice. Next years dates are already available! It's a great opportunity to check out your own ability on the music scene. And of course, the range of music is huge - folk, rock, jazz, you name it - they'll be a stage for it!

When it comes to hiring a live band for your wedding or event in London, it's useful to know that they won't require lots of space, just so long as they have somewhere to change, and a clearly identified space to set up and perform in safety.
