Biography
Devin is from Atlanta, Ga currently residing in New York City. He grew up surrounded by a musical family and has been playing drums since he was 3 years old. With a strong affinity for music at an early age, he started to learn other instruments. Along with his love for percussion, he learned the piano while picking up jazz/latin-jazz, blues, R&B, and some gospel influences. Through college, He joined the Aristocrat Of Bands from Tennessee State University, where he had the opportunity to perform at the White House front lawn(2016), Keith Urban(2018), Nissan Stadium(2016-2020), and Honda Battl
... e Of The Bands(2016 & 2018). Devin has performed with the TSU Jazz Collegians playing at many Gala events, school outreach events, and tours in multiple states in the southern U.S. He scored " The Don Whitehead Story" which aired on Nashville Public Television in 2018. Devin has also performed with ,Futureman himself, Royel Wooten on New Village Fanfare(2018).
Since then, Devin moved to New York City where he received his masters in Music Composition at NYU(22). Devin has composed, produced, and performed two studio albums, "Evolution"(2024) and "If Only" (2025). In 2025, he performed live at The Delancey NYC for two nights with guest artist Zordy Jaeger and bassist Dan Kessler. He plays with Cammy-Kun & The Strange Coincidences coming off a recent tristate tour of Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York City(2026). He performs with Chilean rock band, Yegua, combining rock, metal, reaggeton, and cumbia influences into one. He also plays drums with Lala Suarez who is a latin pop artist by way of Columbia. They have performed at many festivals such as the Waltham Festival in Massachusetts (2026).
Devin loves traveling the world, because there are so many styles of music to learn and appreciate which helps build a well-rounded musician. He has influences from the Caribbean, most notably Trinidad and Jamaica. He joined a steel pan band earlier on in life called, Pan People Steel Band, led by Dr. Ajamu Nyumba. They have performed at a multitude of community, university, private, and corporate events.
Devin was raised with African drumming, Afro-beat, and other Afro-centric music which cultivated the skill for hand percussion. This includes the djembe, Elu (Talking Drum), marimba, and various shakers. His mother was a lover of Afro-cuban music and latin jazz. She would play a variety of artist from Poncho Sanchez to Celia Cruz, instilling a fond appreciation for the musical style. This includes congas, timbales, bongos.
When Devin isn't performing, he entertains and teaches children the joys of music through hand drum and chant at multiple schools and programs in Brooklyn and its surrounding areas. His private and group lessons are available for any age range.
