Biography
My drum journey and education:
I've been playing/learning drums from an early age of 5 with teachers all the way through to when i graduated University. This gives me the ability to read sheet music with ease and I can sight read well. I've been lucky to have many great teachers throughout my learning experience which gives me the pleasure of being able to learn from different approaches and expertise on the instrument, which I'm thankful for. One of my greatest achievements was competing in Drumteks best up & coming drummers competition when i was 12. One of my drum teachers suggested it an
... d helped me through the process. I made the top 10 with personal letters from the judges, as i was so young in the competition i was up against adults who were already respected in the drumming community.
When i graduated high school i had the highest mark in the state for my performance on drums where i performed pieces from artists/drummers such as Dave Weckl- Big B little b, Virgil Donati - Alien hip hop, Graham Morgan, and Murray Houllif- Sambal-Ly. I then went to JMC Academy where i got my Bachelor of Music Performance majoring on drums and percussion. Whilst completing this i was performing in 7-8 regular bands each week playing genres from funk/blues to Punk and Prog rock.
Now i mainly play in function bands and do studio work but I do still perform regularly with an electronic based group called 'Confetti Western', where i play to click tracks and help the writing process in the studio, we played at the MONA festival 2025 in Hobart, Tasmania.

I've had the honor of playing with some nationally and internationally recognized drummers, from Nashville session pros to New York jazz cats and i can categorically say that Griffin is my favorite to work with. His intuitive sense of groove is second to none, his chops are out of this world but most importantly he understands his role to play within distinct genres. Hes a pocket player who knows when to hit the accelerator and when to draw back, he can catch riffs or motifs effortlessly on a first play and values musical texture over letting his chops fill spaces that need to be left open.
More importantly he's an easy going, hilarious person who is able to interact with an audience, band member or business contact in a memorable and professional manner. He truly is an asset to any group or project, a brilliant musician and professional individual.
Experience
Vast experience playing functions and pub/bar gigs starting as a teenager. I've been playing/learning drums from an early age of 5 with teachers all the way through to when i graduated University. Session drummer in studio and stage performances.
