My daughter is having lots of fun in the Urban Wizards' Purple Wand Class. We were amazed with the number and quality of items we received in our packet. Each magic trick comes with easy-to-follow instructions and Scotty reviews each week's trick step-by-step and is happy to repeat steps and trouble-shoot with individual kids. Scotty is sure to keep the mood light and my daughter loves the silly banter and opportunities to dance, perform and joke around in a laid back environment. Although the class is virtual, the kids are engaged and attentive throughout their time together. Thanks for providing a fun group activity for the kids to enjoy together during these crazy Covid times!

An immersive course for beginner and early-intermediate puppeteers ages 12 and up - all supplies included.
Over the course of 8, one-hour sessions, students will learn the “in’s and out’s” of beginning puppetry AND design their own puppet using all the materials and supplies included in the Puppet Kit! Guided through the course by puppeteer Scotty Swan, students will have a blast, meet new people, and learn about one of the most creative visual and performing arts in the world... PUPPETRY!
Lessons include the basics of a moving-mouth puppetry with skills such as lip sync, eye focus, breathing, posture, movement, and emotion to help make your characters come alive. Students will be standing and holding their arms up for extended periods of time, moving one's thumb separately from one's fingers, following one or two-step directions and learning to treat fragile puppets with respect. Students will also learn simple green screen shoot, including footage upload, green screen removal, and superimposing puppets into far-out environments. Bring puppets, dolls, or objects to play with, and learn to create movie magic in a professional studio.
By the end of the course, you will:
● have had 8 hours of instruction!

● have the ability to bring a puppet to life
● understand how to develop character
● learn how to create a puppet script
● how you use monitors
● how to make a movie
