We tailor our performance to your needs. We have always received good feedback from event organizers and audience members regarding our song choices and how we present ourselves. We take pride in that we can read a crowd well and if our performance or setlist needs adjusting during a show, we do that to suit the vibe and the situation.

Biography

AKiMBO is a music duo hailing from Stellenbosch, South Africa, who embellish a broad variety of popular songs with their own unique style of classical guitar, steel string guitar, ukulele, keyboard, percussion and beautiful vocal harmonies.
They have a large range of their own original music with meaningful stories behind them. They love doing shows that are entirely centred around these songs and showcasing the creativity weaved into their writing. They also have a large repertoire of 200+ cover songs.
Their performances are heartfelt and passionate and you can expect diverse genres fr ... om many different eras – anything from the 60’s and earlier right up to the present.

We have been lucky enough to have AKiMBO singing at a number of our venues/taprooms over the past two years. They are well received by our patrons and their energy is contagious. They truly enjoy performing and it shows. They have a perfect style of music for restaurant and live shows. They are professional and worth booking for events.

The Band AKiMBO. What can I say? Amazing, incredible, thought-provoking and a pleasure to the ear. Their soothing sounds and lyrics touch deep and every audience member walks out rejuvenated and cultivated with the blessing of song and music. I only see a bright future for this duo! The fact that they can create such a full sound with just two humans is astounding. May their songs be heard by the whole world and may they be blessed in every performance, lyric and music they create.

Experience

We have played a numerous events ranging from birthday parties, restaurants and social events to weddings, corporate and private parties. We have hosted two larger shows at a live concert venue with great attendance. We have been a duo for over five years now and are constantly improving our repertoire and skills.
Both of us have prior musical experience. Andi has been singing since she could talk and has since learned the basics of piano, guitar and ukulele. She has a history of musical theater and dance which all have a hand in fueling her performances.
Tayne has been playing his ow ... n classical style of guitar for more than 15 years and has a unique percussion setup that he plays whilst rocking it out on the guitar. He turns the most mundane of melodies into beauty.

Meet the Act

Andi has been singing since she could talk and has since learned the basics of piano, guitar and ukulele. She has a history of musical theater and dance which all have a hand in fueling her performances and keeps you captivated.
Tayne has been playing his own classical style of guitar for more than 15 years and has a unique percussion setup that he plays whilst rocking it out on the guitar. He turns the most mundane of melodies into beauty. If you know anything about music and guitaring you will be stunned at his brilliance.
Andi and Tayne met by through a mutual acquaintance. They wer ... e both looking of a musical partner and found it instantly after meeting up and jamming together for a bit. They immediately started expanding on what they already knew and took the band from scratch to where they are now. They built up a bit of a following and always love meeting new people along the way.
Andi is a qualified Clinical Technologist in Pulmonology and was working full-time up until recently when she moved away from the job to pursue music fully. Tayne has been working in tourism for many years and still straddles doing music and taking guests on wine tours by bike and hikes in the Stellenbosch and Franschhoek areas.
