Biography

James Haslam is a trained actor, graduating with a degree in Acting from Rose Bruford College, and an established cabaret performer with a career spanning over two decades. He has performed at leading London venues including Pizza on the Park, The Pheasantry, Pizza Express Live (Holborn), St James Theatre, and Camden Festival.
His critically recognised self-penned show Clutching Pearls was nominated for a What’s On Stage Award, highlighting his creative and performance credentials. His acting work includes a guest appearance on Heartbeat (Yorkshire Television), Charles II in The Libertine ... (ICA London), and Dalek Supreme Commander in The Evil of the Daleks (Theatre Royal Portsmouth).
James has a strong presence on the UK Pride and festival circuit, performing at Medway, Crawley, Eastbourne, Southampton, Swansea, Graysham, and Bay Pride, as well as the Weekend Rumble Festival. He has also appeared live on BBC Radio Wales from the Portcawl Elvis Festival, where he was awarded a Diversity Award in 2019, and was featured on BBC’s The One Show as part of coverage of the event.

Ours is the largest Elvis festival in the world with around a hundred Elvis Tribute Artists taking part. Established in 2004, the highlight of the event is the Elvies Award Show. In 2019 we created a new diversity award and presented it to Elberace. Being honest, I was concerned how our audience of die-hard Elvis fans would support an act outside of the orthodox box. However, Elberace blew the roof off, both at the award show and also at the live show BBC broadcast from the Festival. We brought him back last year and the audience reaction was the same. Outside of actual performance , professionally as a producer, I found James very easy to work with. 100% professional and reliable

I engaged Elberace (Gay Elvis) to perform live on BBC Radio Wales which broadcasts The Owen Money show , live , from the world famous annual Elvis Festival at Porthcawl in South Wales . We are always joined by Elvis tribute acts and James was fantastic – he was a real crowd pleaser and went down such a storm with the audience that we invited him back for a second appearance in 2022 , after we had a break because of Covid . I was really impressed at how he turned up in plenty of time and he looked great in his full Elvis rig . He did a lovely interview with Owen and really entered into the spirit of our show .

'We booked Gay Elvis for Southampton Pride 2022 and were absolutely delighted with his performance, professionalism and pazazz! The crowd adored him and from an organising committee's point of view, he was a dream to work with. The communication was great all the way through the process, he was quick at responding to requests and sending tracks and promo material and we would highly recommend him to anyone! Needless to say we have booked him again for Southampton Pride 2023 and can't wait to have him back!

Full costume performances. Elberace has been receiving great reviews for my online shows during lockdown from birthday shows and also raising donations for the NHS and Gay Pride events.
Elberace approaches each virtual show with high professional standards as would be expected with any live performance . Shows can be live feed or pre-record to watch and keep send to you in Mp4 or Mpeg format. Elberace is always happy to try to include special requested songs where possible and will work closely with you to acheive a set list that you require.
