After dropping out of middle school, he worked in various types of jobs. Inspired by comedian Louie Anderson, he ultimately decided to pursue comedy. Nicks worked the stand-up circuit during the 1990s and began appearing on such television programs as Talent Rock (2005) and The Buck Dillard Show (2007)
