Meet the Act

I was a high school English teacher for the past 20 years, and I gave it all up to pursue comedy full-time. I have been doing standup for the past 13 years, but I've been funny my whole life. I describe myself as the fat kid from middle school who survived, so I deserve a microphone, a stage, and a spotlight. I come from a large, hairy, Italian family, and it's one of my favorite things to talk about.
I started doing comedy by emceeing at the local club, when it was called Jr.'s Last Laugh. And the first night I went on, in front of a sold-out crowd, I was incredible. So good that the owners ... said, "We had no idea you would be this funny!" And the rest is history. It was a great start.

For over twenty years, I was a high school teacher, and for part of that time, I also taught college composition at a local university. My passion in education is teaching writing; it's the thing I'm best at, working on helping writers to develop their own voice an style, in the genre they feel most called to. I have worked online as an editor, as a teacher, and I have taught virtual classes. I am a writer who specializes in creative nonfiction, but I am happy to teach writers how to develop themselves as better writers in fiction, poetry, nonfiction, etc...
