It’s Spring and a time for new beginnings, so it’s just the right moment to review your act, freshen it up and start thinking about all those opportunities you could be grabbing during the sunnier months.

To help get you started we’ve come up with our top tips to get more work this Spring

Target Wedding Work

We’ve said this before and we’ll say it again, wedding work is one of the biggest and most lucrative entertainment sectors, so you need to think about what you can offer. Take a look at our recent blog ’12 Ways to get Wedding Work’ to get you started. You should also consider joining Facebook wedding interest groups in your area, joining in the chat and subtly promoting your act.

Think ‘Festivals’

Festivals are everywhere over the Spring & Summer months, with everything from local fairs to food & drink and music festivals. The smaller local fairs are a great place to start promoting your act and the medium-sized food, drink, music and children’s festivals are a dream for entertainers. Now’s the time to start searching around for what went on last year and contacting the organisers.

Outdoor Parties

The warmer months are always a great opportunity for people to throw garden and outdoor parties and events. Start thinking about how your act would work outdoors, and what it could bring to this type of occasion and make sure you spell it out on your publicity. If you’re a juggler for example, then hiring you would bring a festival or carnival atmosphere to someone’s party, so say that in your act description.

Team Up

This is a good piece of advice at any time of year, so if you haven’t done it yet, start planning… Get yourself teamed-up with another act or event service that complements your own. If you’re a singer, find a pianist or guitarist. If you’re a violinist, find a cellist. If you’re a clown, find a bubble performer or juggler. You get the picture. Not only will you be able to promote two types of act, solo or as a group, but you can also work together on your promotions and booking. Double the bookings, half the effort.

Review your Publicity

Once you’ve done all of the above it’s time to review your publicity and your Entertainers Worldwide profile. Does it appeal to the wedding, festival and outdoor party market? Does it have pictures of you in these situations? Does it promote you both as a solo act and as a group? We have plenty of inspiration & ideas on how to make your publicity truly booking-friendly, just take a look at the Entertainers Advice section of our blog.
