Where Shall I Start With My Magical Wedding Plans?

wedding, planning, tips

When organising your own wedding, planning can become stressful and overwhelming.

Following the thrill of announcing the engagement you’ll be surprised how quickly the time passes, so the better informed you are, the better prepared you will be to enjoy a perfect wedding celebration to share with family and friends.

Talk to your partner and discuss the answers to the following questions:

  • What kind of wedding do we want? Traditional, Beach, Overseas, in a castle?
  • Do we want to invite children? If so, what ways are there to keep children entertained at a wedding?
  • How many guests are we going to invite in total? Who will be invited to witness the ceremony and who will attend the Reception?
  • What entertainers and event services do we want?
  • What’s our total budget?

Once you have the answers to these questions, you can start investigating venues. This will naturally lead you into working with additional suppliers, such as a caterer, marquee supplier, photographer, florist and of course our speciality music and wedding entertainment ideas.

Where possible, try to use suppliers that have been recommended and have received good, recent feedback and reviews. Many vendors have listings with wedding planning websites, such as Hitched and other leading Event Services, where you can view professional profiles, photos and videos, read reviews and find contact details, enabling you to ask specific questions before making a booking.

If possible, it’s a good idea to see your chosen suppliers in action – find out where they are showcasing their services at wedding fairs or other events. If there is a long run-up to your wedding you might be able to check on them more than once for added reassurance.

Don’t accept the first quote you get! Look around, negotiate and make sure you get everything in writing!

Insurance

We would also suggest that whatever type of wedding you are planning, take out wedding insurance. This will cover your costs if something unexpected happens, such as family health problems or issues with suppliers.

Checklist

Good news! To help you out, we have created a wedding checklist.  This covers everything you need to cover from the moment you start planning your wedding, to the week before the big event.  (Seriously, download it!)
