For a Surprise Proposal or Long Distance Proposal
Even if you’ve been talking about it for years, it’s lovely to plan a surprise marriage proposal, it gives you both something wonderful to reminisce about in years to come.
There are a million ways to hide the ring or write ’Will You Marry Me?’ somewhere surprising but this has to be one of our favourites…
Hire a close-up magician to make your ‘Marry Me’ message appear! Even better, ask them to walk up to you in the street and offer to show your wife or husband-to-be a magic trick.
They will have no idea until the message appears!
If you’re the shy type you can just ask your magician to produce your message and then leave to give you some privacy.
You can also hire a juggler to do something very similar…give them items to juggle that mean something to both of you or juggling balls with pictures stuck to them of key moments in your journey, as well as…the ring box. Your juggler can then appear and do some juggling tricks, and at the end of each one, hand the next item to your other half!
For a long-distance proposal, co-ordinate a phone call with the juggler or magician appearing (you can find a juggler or magician anywhere in the world in our directory). Or arrange a Zoom or FaceTime and ask your virtual magician to put on that surprise show…
For a Feeling-Confident, Musical Proposal
If music be the food of love…
There’s nothing quite like including music in your proposal plan! Guitar singers, opera singers and duos can all be booked to appear at your proposal location and sing one of your favourite songs, or a personalised version which includes the name of your fiancé/e to be.
This idea obviously takes a bit more confidence since it’s not a low-key way to ask the big question – if you’re in public it’s very likely to draw some attention – which makes it perfect for more extrovert couples.
You could also hire a tribute singer, your very own Elvis, Adele, Prince or Michael Jackson to sing your proposal!
For a Low-Key, Artistic Proposal
If you’re thinking of something a little more low-key, but still a really wow-factor proposal, this is a lovely idea…
Why not hire a Caricaturist to come and meet you when you’re out in the park, or in a cafe…they can create a beautiful, warm (and flattering) picture of you both and add your proposal message to the bottom of the page. You can ask them to give it to your other half in an envelope so you can open it together once they’ve left…what a wonderful surprise, and a perfect proposal keepsake
The Totally Romantic, Sweep-Them-Away Proposal
Looking for a big, bold, huge romantic gesture of a proposal? Then once you’ve chosen the perfect location, how about hiring a harpist or a string quartet AND an aerialist! Your musicians will add that air of real romance that no one can resist, and you could even ask your aerialist to swoop down and deliver the ring!
